The new role will involve Wendy taking the lead in developing and driving City’s corporate strategic approach to our Environmental, Social and Governance responsibilities. As part of City's senior leadership team, Wendy will be City’s key contact on all ESG matters, leading engagement with our clients, central and local government bodies, industry experts and community groups.
Wendy is committed to ensuring that City implements appropriate policy and strategies to drive the our focus on embracing our Environmental, Social Value and Governance responsibilities.
To fully embed this within the culture of our organisation, Wendy will aim to ensure that City's ESG objectives are clearly defined and understood throughout the business. Underpinned by the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals, our ESG goals and objectives will be reflected in our decision-making and the way we work, who we work with and how we do business.
In order to play our part within the wider business community, Wendy considers it essential that City use its sizeable, diverse and geographically-spread colleague base to galvanise others to do more, whether that be for our society through well-run community volunteering engagement initiatives, leading the way by creatively developing mechanisms and practices on how better to limit our use of materials and energy resources, giving back, reducing pollution, or by supporting and encouraging children from less advantaged backgrounds to learn and identify their strengths and talents, helping them to help themselves for a better future society.
Wendy is passionate about leading, directing and galvanising City’s environmental and societal impact agenda, ensuring our efforts are a force for positive change and influence, in both the business community and within our local communities. She is looking forward to assuming responsibility for scoping, developing and implementing City’s ESG risk, governance and reporting frameworks.
In a customer-led business, it will be Wendy's responsibility for ensuring that we have mechanisms in place to provide our stakeholders with confidence that we not only operate a profitable and sustainable business, but that we take our environmental and societal responsibilities seriously as an organisation, while thinking, behaving, and operating with integrity and transparency right across our business.
