To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we spoke to some of our current apprentices to get an insight into their experiences with City:

National Apprenticeship Week - Gordon

Gordon says:

My name is Gordon Richardson. I’m 17 years old and I am an apprentice refrigeration engineer at City Building Engineering Services (CBES). In my apprenticeship I attend Glasgow Kelvin College in Springburn, and also have the opportunity to go out with an engineer which teaches me practical on the job skills. I attend college and work in three week blocks.

At college we are working towards our SVQ level 3 in Thermodynamic Engineering. In my first year we’ve started learning about basic refrigeration systems and how they work, in the hope that we can apply this knowledge when eventually we are out by ourselves as fully qualified engineers.

My favourite part of the job is being out learning practical skills to help with the line of work and being shown how to solve problems by the engineers at CBES. I am really enjoying my apprenticeship with City and am looking forward to moving closer to becoming an engineer.
