To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we spoke to some of our current apprentices to get an insight into their experiences with City:

National Apprenticeship Week - Scott

Molly says:

I am a first-year refrigeration apprentice engineer working for City FM on the Asda contract. I work alongside a senior refrigeration engineer learning about refrigeration systems, how they work and how we fix them. I attend college for 3 years of my apprenticeship to learning about all aspects of refrigeration and some aspects of air conditioning.

During my apprenticeship I work both on site and attend college. In college I vary between theory and practical work. Theory includes health and safety and the basics of refrigeration, I also do some electrical work. Practical includes learning how to braze and using different tools to fix or install parts. I enjoy the mix of getting both the practical along with the theory work.

At work I enjoy that I learn through being shown how to complete the task and also through carrying out the task myself which I find to be a great way to learn. Becoming a refrigeration engineer with City would create a great future with a stable job.
